Get to know Tyler...

Tyler is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and a Certified Music Therapist (MTA). He holds a Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and works with individuals of all ages, from infants and children to teens and young adults, as well as families. He provides an inclusive, affirming space where clients can safely explore identity, relationships, life transitions, and emotions.

Tyler works collaboratively with clients to help them express and make sense of experiences that can be difficult to put into words. He combines talk therapy with creative approaches such as music, expressive arts, play, and therapeutic horticulture to help clients navigate challenges including anxiety, depression, medical trauma, grief, sexuality, relationships, and supporting early development. He supports clients in being their authentic selves, exploring new ways of expressing themselves, and learning more about who they are.

In addition to Blue Couch, Tyler works full-time as a music therapist at Waterloo Regional Health Network, supporting pediatric oncology, the NICU, and palliative care. Clients describe him as compassionate, attuned, creative, and gentle. Outside of therapy, he enjoys performing music, gardening, and spending time with his two-year-old beagle, Ravioli, family, and friends.

Guelph is located within the Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3); the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit.

It is recognized that the Anishinnabe and Hodinöhsö:ni' peoples have unique, long-standing and on-going relationships with the land and each other and that the Attawandaron people are part of the archaeological record (University of Guelph Website).
